POINTS OF INTEREST NOTES

DATE:            4/4/2007

LOCATION: Guilin, China

NAME: Crown Cave

ENTRY COST:  60 RMB per person

RATING:   3

1 – Avoid,  2 – OK if nothing better to do, 3 – Worth seeing,  4 – Worth special trip, 5 – DO NOT MISS!

DESCRIPTION:   This cave attraction is similar to Silver Cave with the exception that it has an underground river running through it, a modern elevator at the exit and an very old (they try to tell you yi qian ba bai - 1800 years!) live turtle that you can see and even pet for an extra 10 RMB.

While the cave geology overall is not a stunning as Silver Cave, 3 km long Crown Cave was listed in the Guiness Book of World records as having the most ways to get through it. These include a train ride, a boat ride, walking, of course, and the aforementioned elevator.

OTHER COMMENTS:    At the end of the cave tour a mountain coaster ride is available to take you back to the starting point. At the time I was there it was being painted and closed.
