Thanks to a reader from Lijiang we have up to date information on this ski area now. We had hoped to get down there this past winter, but that did not work out so we appreciate this input. It seems that they have not yet opened for the season and are targeting January 2 to open the lower beginner's slope. Whether the upper advanced slope will open remains questionable. As with so many smaller resorts in China, the lack of demand for the advanced slopes causes the operators to save costs by not investing in the snow making which in turn discourages any advanced skiers from visiting. A vicious circle. With 5 flights a day into DiQing/Shangri-La airport, we are still looking for ski alternatives for the southern China based serious skier/boarder.
