          Genting Secret Garden

Genting Resort Secret Garden, situated just over the eastern ridge of Wanlong, is one of the ChongLi area's new entries into the major ski resort category. This mega (if built to plan) resort complex, officially opened December 16, 2012 now adds about 17 distinct ski trails for ChongLi bound skiers. Built by the Malaysian developers of Genting Highlands outside Kuala Lumpur, the resort says it will eventually feature hotels with a total of 1000 rooms, shopping, resturants and all the amenities of a full Alpine village. The initial 6 slopes and two bubble lifts opened 2011-2012 and an additional 11 or so trails, one new bubble lift and 3 Magic Carpets have been added since then. The first 265 room hotel, the Genting Grand, opened five winters ago making good on the promise of a first class new ski resort.

For the 2017-2018 winter, Secret Garden opened additional section with skiing to the new hotel and a gondola from the hotel to the summit. This expands the section that backs up to Wanlong's eastern ridge where a trail interconnects the two resorts.

Although the interconnect is open, one still has to purchase an additiona lift ticket to use the Sercret Garden or Wanlong lifts (last season, 150RMB/2 hours or 200RMB for an afternoon half day). It is too early to tell how the two resorts will work together but some discussions on an interconnected pass are hopefully taking place. A pass that was good for both resorts (and eventually for the other adjacent planned resorts) would vault all the resorts, as a group, into the world class league. One can always hope that the two managements would eventually see the utility of being able to market one mega size ski area instead of two separate competing ones.
