DESCRIPTION: It seems every tourist city in China features an evening live performance show in a specially built facility that is always an extra cost on top of the regular tour package price (at least on Chinese tours). Some are OK, some are very good. However, of all those in China, this has to rate as easily the best and well worth the money. (Note that YangZhuo is about 80 km from Guilin city)
To start with its stage is the actual Li River and the actual Karst peaks. With powerful sound and lighting, this back drop becomes the stage for a marvelous show of culture and music. Creative use of various mediums and over 300 performers fill this vast stage with a show that is at the same time spectacular and intimate.
The seating for the up to 2500 audience is on terraced rows on the river bank so that there are really no bad seats. However, since it is at night, photography to remember the show with is difficult.
OTHER COMMENTS: As you arrive, vendors want to rent you seat cushions. Do not pass them up! Cost was 10 RMB per cushion. No deposit was left and somehow they find you at the end to retrieve their cushions.
The location of the show seemed to have a lot of other daytime activities. It should be checked out as a longer visit leading up to the show.
If you are anywhere near Guilin, DO NOT miss this show!
